On the high seas

 We made our way to the cruise port for Rome,  which is a town called Civitavecchia. It's also a commercial port like Savannah, which isn't very pretty

but has beautiful blue water.

We had a wild cab ride out of Rome and up the coast, through interesting neighborhoods and commercial areas much different from the ancient Roman areas we were in Monday. Found a store just for ugly people on the way.

We got checked in with MSC and on board easily. Turns out some of the other passengers
had already been on board for a few days. This ship just continues around the Mediterranean picking up and discharging patrons at each port. So there is a constant turnover but never a big crush of people boarding. Very relaxed and not crowded.

We found our rooms, then got some lunch, wandered the ship and found our way around.

Dinner time came so we went to the formal dining room. Unfortunately the meals we ordered were not very enjoyable. We're hoping our other meals there will be better. Tomorrow night is "Mediterranean Night" so maybe they will step it up a bit.

After dinner we went up on the top deck for a gorgeous sunset with the mountainous Italian coast behind it. We're heading north to Genova, which we'll explore tomorrow. Che Bella!

We went to a mediocre show in the theater, with cheesy backing tracks and average singers, then turned in for the night. Jet lag and a long day touring Rome yesterday have wiped us all out. A good night's rest should have us ready to explore Genova tomorrow. More then, and more pics from today.
